The Meaning of Life

The meaning of life. It's an age old question, and one that perhaps billions of people have pondered over for thousands of years.

But it is also one that has been answered by Jesus Christ, nearly 2,000 years ago. "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." - Matthew 6:33

What does this mean?

It means to seek out God first, and He will make things right in every other aspect of your life.

Too many of us seek after the wrong things. Drugs, alcohol, casual sex, violence, money and the list goes on and on!

We are deluded into thinking that these things will solve our desires, and that by just getting them all our problems will be solved! The problem is, all those things are empty and devoid of what the human soul really craves and desires. That is, truth and love.

None of the things that the world tells you will solve your problems actually will!

The only real way to peace and happiness is by knowing the truth. And as the oft quoted saying goes, "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." - John 8:32

Money, fame, success and beauty is what the world will tell you you need to achieve in order to be considered successful. Otherwise you're a loser and not worth anybody's time! This is of course an outright lie, and no one should be subjected to this type of philosophy or belief. Nonetheless, this is what the world will constantly tell you and drum into you from the very earliest of ages, hammered home by the media and popular culture.

This is obviously detrimental to everyone's own self-worth if they fail to meet up to society's expectations of what is considered "successful".

However, the true meaning of life is this. To do good, be good, and serve God and your fellow man, to the best of your ability! Now this of course does not mean that you will always be able to meet that expectation, we are all human, and we will all fail from time to time. That is just the nature of being a flawed human being! I have yet to meet anyone who has said they are "perfect", and if you have, I will show you Jesus Christ!

Life is all about the small things. Take care of the "small things", and God will take care of the rest. Get those things right, and God will transform your life!

Don't sweat the small stuff. If we focus on the right things, the small stuff will take care of itself. If you worry about the small things, you will get overwhelmed, and to be honest, it's just not really worth worrying about at all! Life is short.
